The New York Times’ esteemed, annual list of top 52 destinations has named ‘Jane Austen’s England’, a reference to England’s South West, as the #1 destination for 2025, and what better time is there to discover the places that inspired the celebrated author than the 250th anniversary of her birth!

While South West England’s destinations leave us spoiled for choice, the city of Bath in Somerset has been a longstanding favorite of Transcendent Travel - how could it not, with its ancient Roman baths, elegant Georgian architecture and of course, ties to Jane Austen as her place of residence from 1801 to 1806 and inspiration for two of her novels, Northanger Abbey and Persuasion. And if that’s not enough, this historical city also boasts two UNESCO inscriptions, as a World Heritage Site and one of the Great Spa Towns of Europe!
