Andrew Lannerd is a passionate Anglophile and leading expert of the inner workings and history of the British Monarchy. His primary area of focus ranges from the reign of Queen Victoria (1837-1901) to present day.
Drawing upon 15+ years of intensive research, his knowledge of the monarchy is often called upon by people researching the topic. Noted for his knowledge on the subject, Andrew served as an interviewee and manuscript consultant in the book “Royal Fever: The British Monarchy and Consumer Culture,” published by the University of California Press in 2015. He has also been a guest lecturer on the topic of British history and constitutional monarchy for academic as well as social groups.
After numerous requests from individuals over several years, in 2013, Andrew began to develop and lead country house and castle tours of the United Kingdom for Transcendent Travel Services, LLC, a New York-based boutique travel agency specializing in experience-based travel. Through planning these exclusive tours, Andrew’s contacts and relationships in the United Kingdom have offered tour access to highlights such as the renowned gardens of HRH The Prince of Wales at Highgrove, private tours of The Royal Pavilion at Brighton and private use of the Queen’s former yacht, The Britannia.
Building upon his passion for the Royal Family, Andrew has also become one of the top collectors of rare royal memorabilia in North America.
His collection features thousands of unique objects, including over 700 books, letters written by Queen Elizabeth II and other senior members of the Royal Family, signed photographs, a rare collection of Royal Wedding cakes, clothing worn by members of the Royal Family, rare palace china, porcelain and glass.
His collection has been featured in publications such as Indianapolis Monthly as well as on ABC, CBS and Fox affiliates.
When in England and not leading tours, Andrew is an avid “royal watcher”. He has met all the members of the Royal Family at various times over the years. His meetings have involved attending private events at Buckingham Palace and other notable events, as well as other opportunities to present Queen Elizabeth II with flowers on special occasions.
